Default another salmon falls break in

From a friend:

Hello All,

On Sunday the 25th of June [I think he just have meant July], my van window was broken and the van rifled at the South pull-out of the Salmon Falls bridge. I was parked along with about 7-10 other vehicles. Between 10:30 and 3:30 Someone broke the left passenger door window and took three “Take out bags” sitting on the middle seat. Nothing else was taken, although the van was full of gear. There was a park ranger giving tickets to bridge jumpers who was kind enough to take an incident report. As he was listening to my sad tale in the lower Skunk Hollow parking lot another rafter reported his van window was broken in the upper parking lot. I guess they had a thing about mini-vans on Sunday. Van Glass, DLs, keys, and cell phones all replaced on Monday, so it’s just like it didn’t happen. Except they got and probably threw away a couple of old favorite t-shirts and some venerable take out bags. Please post this to other sites.

Default what can be done about this?

any thoughts on how we, the boating community, can fight this?

-calls/letters/petition to the sherriff's office for a greater response on their part?
-pool money to hire a private investigator or somebody to patrol the area?

nothing I can think of seems practical and effective for the long term. maybe we are just helpless to continue to be victimized at this spot. when I park there, I leave my car empty with the windows down. somebody could throw shit into my car, but that's about it.

Nothing gets me more fired up than thieves. Pick a day and hire a private sec. Guard to watch the lot and also send a press release about it to to all media. They will love the story and the sherriff will have to get involved.

Default There is a shuttle on the S Fork

It allows you to park at put-in and get picked up at take-out.
