The 16th annual family-friendly “Paddlefest,” sponsored by California Canoe & Kayak, offers information about how to get out and enjoy Sacramento’s hometown rivers and lakes. Sunday, June 21, 2009, at Nimbus Flat State Park from 9 am – 3 pm. Learn about kayaking, canoeing, camping, water fitness and racing. Activities include opportunities to test paddle canoes and kayaks, on-water lessons for kids and adults, and outfitters and pros to answer questions. $10 demonstration fee/person; kids under 12 are free. Paddlefest Highlights:
* 11am - 12 pm - 1 pm - at - Held at the Thule display located in Parking Lot - How to rack and safety tie down your kayak presented by Steve Drew, Thule Rack Specialist - Steve will be available all day to answer your rack and tie-down questions.
* 10 am - 11 am - 12 noon - 1 pm - 2 pm - Kids on water Clinics meet at the Registration Booth be ready to paddle Starting at 10 am and every hour on the hour last clinic 2 pm. Ages 8 and up (50 lbs min). Sign-up at the check in booth.
* 11:00 am - How To Choose Your Kayak: Recreational Kayaks to Sea Kayaks. Presented by: Ken Howell, Sea Kayak Program Director.
* 1:30 pm - Kayak rescues: The fundamentals of rescuing another kayaker using different techniques. Presented by: Ken Howell: CCK Sea Kayak Program Director.
