This creek runs behind my house and is looking good with all this rain. The gauge is here:

At 2.5 ft it's good to go I think. higher probably makes it less scrapey in some areas and easier in some and harder in others. I've never paddled it myself...yet.

On a bike ride I rode up the path along the arroyo seco about a mile or two to see the flow. The USGS online guage read it about 2.5 ft when I went up the other day. Seemed like a pretty good flow. Continuous, not many eddies, but not pushy and just enough to scrape over the rocks. There are a few drops under the bridges that looked challenging (tight and twisty with more drop and flow). A few places where wood blocked the channel completely or partially, but they were mostly in flat areas it seemed. I scouted back as far as the first non-bridge stream crossing, where normally you have to wade/walk across to connect to the trail on the other side.

To run this you'd basically walk out of my backyard, down the hill, and as far up the creek as you want to go before putting in. It's an easy hike along a nice path following the creek for several miles.

The pics in the link that I posted above are from the the top of the run, another 10 miles up. I just checked out the last 2 miles or so that ends near JPL.

Supposed to be sunny tomorrow and no rain -- the flow should hold through the day I hope. Anyone up for even just trying out the last few miles of the run with me? Maybe cut out of work early and hit it in the late afternoon? honestly I don't have the time nor the inclination to try it from the top at Switzers -- this flows too infrequently for me to trust that it's safe from debris up there (I've hiked the whole length and it gets pretty remote and constricted and steep)
