    Unhappy Crack Patchin

Anyone know where to get plastic welding sticks for older Jackson boats? I have an 04 SuperFun that I put a 2 inch long crack in today that I'd like to learn some crack fixin skills on.
Also, if you have links on the process or have experience, I'd appreciate it.
    Thanks!

    Tobias,
Ya can't weld Cross Link plastic. Patch it with Bitchuthane, then cover the patch with Duct Tape so you don't get tar on your paddling clothes. Alan and I fixed his Hero this way and he got almost another year out of it before he noticed that there were LOTS of cracks in his boat.
Just know that your boat is living on borrowed time.

I agree with Ricky but I would also drill small holes on each end of the crack before patching it so it doesn't keep spreading.

I believe the older Jackson's were made with the linear plastic.... in which it's just a matter of getting a hold of a plastic welder and some plastic and just welding the plastic to your hull. It's fairly simple and we do it at the shop all the time. Just don't overheat. Overheating is no good. Although I am sure you already know this.

Don't quote me on the linear plastic though. I just always remember the original Jackson's being made with Linear plastic, not cross link.

For reference,to judge which you have, view the inside of the boat in bright sun and look at the texture of the plastic. If it looks a little bumpy, it’s crosslink. Crosslink is also shiny on the inside. Super-linear will be smooth and ‘flat’ just like the outside of the boat but less shiny.

    Hope that helps.
