Default Tahoe area kayakers week of Aug. 12th to 18th.

I will be in the Tahoe area in August and would like to hook up with some people to run the South Fork of the American. Also interested in any other spots around there if it's not crazy class V stuff. I'm a competent boater up to IV but mainly stick to III runs since I don't have a lot of options around where I live. If anyone is out paddling that week, send me a message if you don't mind me tagging along. Thanks

    Dan

I see the SF American is running around 450 CFS. Is it too low and no one is on the river or are there no boaters in this part of CA?

the south fork runs all year, you just have to catch the dam release. check out this link: http://dreamflows.com/flows.php?page...Slope_Northern The section you are inquiring about is the So. American at Chili Bar link. You most likely looked at the online guage after a realease had finished for the day. During this water year, releases are around 1300cfs if I'm not mistaken.

Along with current flow, there is also a schedule of future releases to aid in planning future trips.

Judging by the fact that you already knew the flow however, you may have already known about Dreamflows; but as far as releases I figured I'd shed some light on the subject for you.

    Cheers!

I'll be doing the Tuolumne (class 3-4) this thursday and friday (Aug. 9-10) if you're interested. Water will be a little on the low side so it should make things easier. I'll be in a raft so if you don't like to do self-support we can take some of your stuff in a dry bag. Give me a call: 916-3nine6-8zero9five!

    Cheers,
    Gavin

I'd actually love to hit the Tuolumne but I'm not going to be rolling into Tahoe until Sunday. If anyone's running any day runs around there, I'd be interested in tagging along.

Call or txt me at 801-five1eight-57fiveseven. Thanks

    Dan
