    Default New Write-ups and Video

OK, since it is a new year I thought I would start a new thread. We went north just before the holidays as well as over New Years... so here are a few new items...

    Write-ups:
    Klamath (Hell's Corner) http://www.awetstate.com/KlamathHC.html
South Smith (Kelsey Trail AKA Upper) http://www.awetstate.com/SSmithKT.html

    Diamond Creek http://www.awetstate.com/DiamondCreek.html
Middle Smith (Knopki Bridge AKA Upper) http://www.awetstate.com/MSmithKB.html

I focused on shooting video, so check out Darin's write-ups of the same for more photos:

Good work with the picture books, fellas.
    Thanks, I couldn't boat without y'all.

I had a great time up there on the Smith, also.
North Fork @ 10'-6" with a good group on New Years Day.

That next storm is coming, about when my right shoulder finally recovers.

Thanks for the great documentation, as usual.

Your description of the Klamath's Hell's Corner run brings back some memories when we run it back in the 70s. We put in at 3000 cfs and after having a good run, stopped for lunch about half way down. Before we woke to notice the river had dropped to fish-flows and I was still in my 4 meter fiberglass kayak. Needless to say the boat had dozens of cracks by the time we made it to takeout (thank heavens for duck tape). Remember that after a while I just stopped trying to avoid the unavoidable sharp rocks. That was the only run I ever made on that section.

You are very correct; those rocks under are SHARP!

Well... that only took 3 months... here are the rest of the write-ups and video from Japan.

    Write-ups:
    Fuefukigawa: http://www.awetstate.com/Fuefukigawa.html
    Kamagawa: http://www.awetstate.com/Kamagawa.html
    Shimagawa: http://www.awetstate.com/Shimagawa.html

    Videos:
    Part 4: http://www.awetstate.com/Video/kayak67.html
    Part 5: http://www.awetstate.com/Video/kayak68.html

Japan was a great location, I would highly recommend it for folks thinking of kayaking out of country... crystal clear water, rugged mountains and dense forest... plus countless hot springs and amazing sushi. Who could want more?
