I'd like to plan a trip for this coming weekend, but I'm noticing that the flows are still high.

Anyone know where I can get information?

If you do can you send me an e-mail at dwang40@hotmail.com

Thanks

Diane

Have you tried looking at the flows as linked by this site? Have you consulted the Book? Asked a friend? Stuck your head out the window? Have you done anything?
How in the world did anyone ever go boating without this forum?

What a harsh response to an unguided soul. How unkind to trample the delicate ego of an innocent boater. Shame on you for not uplifting the spirits of another.

Diane, I'd suggest you consider a meditative state where you attempt to visualize the answers to your most difficult questions. If that is unsuccessful you might psychically consult with Fryer Josephat and the Good Book. That should pretty much take care of things if you have a positive mind set. Are you going to plan a trip or go on a trip or would you just LIKE to plan to go on a trip? Someone knows where to get the answer but is it you? (If you do you can e-mail it to dwang40@hotmail.com

ooooOhhhhmmmmmmm, oooooOhhhmmmm, Ddddwwwaaaaanngggg!

Let it flow to you sister.

2400 - not super high, not quite summer flows

What a jerk!!! D' nuts is nuts, if this person thinks that being concerned about flows is not a smart enough question. He's the dumb one. This person will probably become a statistic, then we won't have to worry about this person posting rude remarks.

To try and answer your question. I would call the Groveland Ranger Station at 209 962-7825. They might have an idea what the flows will be this weekend. I think if you ask them, they won't give you a dumb ass response. These people won't want you to paddle a run that is to high for you or your group. I think they get a heads up as to what the flows would be.

The "T" has dropped down quite a bit, from 2 weekends ago, so you might be in luck for this weekend and the flows might come down.

Have fun!!

Seriously you gotta try better to get D's nuts in a bunch. Have you ever seen D's nuts paddle, ever seen D's nuts in a boat on a river. Your not worthy of holding D's nuts jock. Now D's nuts have been all over the state, but if you want to find D's nuts you'll find em hangin at the Juan. Sometimes D's nuts hang at the South Fork American. You'd better be careful though or D's nuts will be in your face. That's a hairy situation that could get messy. Cause D's nuts has been known to explode if provoked.
D's nuts is not a jerk, though a good jerk never hurt D's nuts. D's nuts is sensitve, really just big softy. To be honest D's nuts just wants to be held. Any volunteers?
So I don't know why you want to knock D's nuts around. D's nuts is just trying to help.
Better luck next time.......guest

P.s. this was for me right....wasn't sure since you can't spell D's nuts correctly....D' nuts is my cousin......the cop.

P.p.s.s. how the hell does the ranger know if someone is capable or not; they just check for permit, fire pan, and the groover.

can't believe some people get all bent out of shape, because someone asks a simple question. If they don't know the answer don't respond to the question. I guess people have nothing better to do.

Or, maybe the NUT knows the person that originally posted and maybe got his feelings hurt or maybe it's her ex that she dumped because he didn't meet up to her expectations.

I e-mailed you a response to your question. I gave you some beta as to which rapids get harder as the flows get higher.

You sir have no sense of humour. I read back thru these posts. D's nuts never told anyone not to be concerned about flows or getting proper info.
I mean come on you've have got to be more specific than "I'd like to plan a trip, got any info.?"
I'd like to be rich with a hot wife, got any info.? YOU just have to be more specific with your question, and maybe someone won't be a smart ass. Regardless all questions get answered usually. If you can't stand the heat....get the F out of the state.
Yea I can't believe "some people get all bent out of shape", do you think maybe that's.....you?
Who's the D.H. who's talking about people becoming statistics. That border line bad Karma. Lame.
So Ken, doll, lets put down the coffee, take a couple breaths. I think your taking this whole Forum, internet mess. thing a little to seriously.

Dear D's nuts....mistress pain would be glad to oblige you, and "hold D's nuts" as you say....although it woule be in a bench mounted Vise....until they are flat flat, flat....like the water you paddle.

Anonymous

Would anyone really want to hold or even associate with a paddler that doesn't feel that people should be concerned about the river being too high for them. Mmmmm So, i guess D's Nuts with his little brain feels that paddling the Tuolumne at Summer flows is the same as running it over 3000 cfs and that no one should bother and ask the question as to how high the river will be.

I guess D's Nuts has never paddled the Tuolumne at higher flows. I guess he hasn't realized that the river changes and becomes more challenging. It's a lot of fun if you are seasoned boater and enjoy big pushy water.

I guess this person's philosophy is get to the put-in and regardless of the flow go and paddle the river. Who cares what the flow is!!

I guess it's ok if you're paddling flat water.

the current state of D's nuts is not the issue... Many guests to this forum should be realizing that in seeking to boat higher levels of whitewater, it's sure to happen that eventually you'll have to learn the advanced techniques of logistics. Such as, set shuttle, remember keys, directions?, overnight gear?, provisions?, charming company?, etc... implied in these calculations is knowing the flow, your window of opportunity to make the run, stuff like that... I'm not about to say don't boat safely... But maybe at some point people will have to branch out and learn to micro-manage their own trips as opposed to using this forum to hold their hand the whole way through...

Let me put it another way. Most of the info is out there. I appreciate certain info so as not to irritate dam operators but I'm not about to ask the forum what the flow is for something that's posted on dreamflows. If you're boating at a certain level, you should just be doing that level of work for yourself instead of delegating to the online community.

D's nuts... I don't know what happened there, but damn can you draw fire... I'll see you at the Juan I expect, if it ever drops... I'll be watching the flows, since it's so easy to do online and all... you know.

I'll give you my 2 cents. I don't really understand, why people get so insulted that someone posts a question about a run.

If I was planning on paddling the "T" this weekend, by looking at the dreamflows, I would think that the "T" will be between 2000 to 2300 cfs this weekend. I'm thinking it will be more around 2000 cfs. I don't think it will spike up to 2600 cfs or higher.

Since, the Clavey isn't dumping a lot of water. You'll probably have close to what the gauge reads at the put in throughout the run.

I think what I am always most concerned of is how much the Clavey is dumping, because if you start off running something at 3000 cfs and then the Clavey dumps a lot of water, you end up running the "T" at 5000 or 6000 cfs. That's what happened to me and it was a ride, but you have to be ready for it and have to be use to pushy water and must make moves.
So, you can avoid the big holes. That's where we made our mistake, because we just looked at the gauge at the put-in didn't realize how much water Clavey was dumping.

At this flow, I would look at Clavey, but everything else is ok.
Pretty much the same lines goes. It's actually, a fun flow, some rapids I find a little easier at this flow, because more lines open up.

I would call the Groveland Ranger Station and ask them, they should know by today or tomorrow how much Hetch Hetchy will be releasing.

I don't think I'm holding anyone's hand, by giving them information that I have acquired throughout the years and I'm willing to share.

SandM

Try tracking levels by inflow to the reservoire instead of at put-in. If such info is available. Using basic math you can deduce what major creeks are dumping into the main flow.

Man D's nuts got knocked around. I think he just wanted questions to be a little more specific. As I type this I'm looking at the link marked Flows. For what ever that's worth.

Nice to see the ladies represent, grrrrrr....

Thanks, I guess, to those with sorta kind words for D's nuts. Yet D's nuts needs no one's support. D's nuts can take a lickin and keep on kickin. Yee-haw pardners! Don't you worry those little hearts. You'll see D's nuts in a boat going balls out real soon.
And to whoever. D's nuts in a vice? Wouldn't be the first time a women put em there!

There's no danger of D's nuts dying of stroke, rash maybe, but not stroke. Now D's nuts friend Richard on the other hand.......
Of course D's nuts watches what D's nuts write. How do you think I avoid speling mystakes. And how astute you are, for these are actually very spur of the moment messages with little effort on my part. Allow D's nuts to make a judgement. The border line threatening tone of your message along with the lack of humor brings me to one conclusion. YOU NEED HELP!! Please seek it. Meanwhile if my little messages disturb you so much stop replying and D's nuts will shrivel up and blow away.

I was wondering that too.

I've read D's Nuts responses and I yet can't seem to find the humor in his responses. I think D's Nuts needs to find a sense of humor.

I do agree with D's Nuts that he doesn't put much thought in his responses. I think that's what got him in hot water to begin with.

Hey, Curious how the Toulomne trip went. The one that started this whole mess. How was the flow?

Why would someone that asked a simple question and read a response from an ill-mannered person write back and inform you or anyone on the board about the trip.

Why so you can find some sarcastic rude things to say?

I don't know if the person had posted before, but if this was her first time. I doubt she will post a question again.

It's too bad, because this is suppose to be a forum for people to ask questions about kayaking.

Not just for asking questions...supposedly for giving beta, ranting and more too. From the index:

The main forum. Beta, rants, and more about California whitewater. No commercial posts.

I think D's Nutz would fall (doubtful they actually have descended yet) somewhere between ranting and more.

I don't understand why d's nuts got so riled up, because someone asked a question about the flows on the Tuolumne.

Considering this has been a great water year, the rivers have been running higher than usual. Which is great, but people need to take that in consideration before just paddling a river.

I've asked questions about rivers and flows before and no one has been rude. Usually, I get pretty good responses and information.

Maybe, d's nuts wasn't paddling then.

I hope you do post again and don't let one bad apple keep you or other paddlers from posting.

D's nuts can't help it if you people don't read the messages and topics before responding with your unfunny, hurtful, and ignorant comments.
Ye masses of quivering flesh.

So allow D's nuts up in your ear for a second.

The original topic was "who would have flows on the "T"(did I misspell that!!!) If you scroll up, that's the bar to the right, you'll see some links in the middle top of screen. One of them is marked flows!!

OH MY God!!!!!!! That's amazing.

D's nuts was able to find two other sites for flows without doing anything harder than TRYING. Now obviously I'm an immature, doltish, half-wit, who doesn't boat, and sits around in my own waste. Yall have said it so much it must be true. So if someone as IGNANT as me can avoid typing such generalized easy to answer questions is it to much to ask of my fellow women/man.

OBVIOUSLY .....it is. So D's nuts will continue his righteous crusade to smack down any and all mouth breathers.

D's nuts on yo' chin, get to work beeeyatch!!

P.S. Jimmy, D's nuts always get the last word 'cause you can't talk with you mouthfull. D's nuts on you chin, get to work beeyatch!!!

D's Nuts

I guess after the rude remark and sarcastic tone, no one thought that YOU would actually offer some advice. I sure didn't!!

Dreamflows doesn't have forecast flows. It has todays flows and the days before. The person was asking for the weekend, because that's when she/he was planning on going.

Was the link you gave her for the long range forecast? I'd be interested in seeing that link.

And now, a summation from the prosecution.

Exhibit A: Diane's original post was irritatingly vague - "Anyone know where I can get information?". Information about what? Predicted flows? Karl Rove's diaries? The difficulty of the T at X cfs? Diane's ability to paddle that? How much free time boof.com viewers have on their hands?

Exhibit B: A kind soul could have given Diane the benefit of the doubt. Her post suggests she possesses the capability to look up flow info, along with some clue about it's interpretation. Diane may simply be inarticulate, or rushed, or suffering from head trauma. One might simply and politely have suggested she be more specific about just what the hell she wants to know.

Exhibit C: D's Nuts is funny. And he writes well. And he is not guilty of every sin of which he's accused herein.

Exhibit D: D's Nuts is a bit duplicitous - he implies that Diane is a dolt because she's asking for flow information that is widely available. It's entirely unclear just what Diane is asking about, but there's reasonable doubt that flow info is her quest. D's Nuts should not give undue weight to his assumptions. Diane may well be a dolt for some other reason entirely.

Exhibit E: Diane commits the excusable sin of extreme vagueness, but then never redeems herself by posting a clarification, or a thank-you for those bleeding hearts who tried to help her nonetheless.

Exhibit F: There is no exhibit F

The prosecution rests

The verdict: Jesus. This is an anonymous chat board on the internet. It is not your Unitarian church newsletter. Toughen up you pansies.

Exhibit F: Solomon and D's nuts are the same guys that talk smack all day long on an internet forum, but when it comes to running the shit, you're the two biggest pansies of the whole group. If you did run the shit, you wouldn't sit here making 16 posts with exhibits belitting someone with the simplest question possible. Why don't you get off the computer, jump in your boat on something harder than Chili Bar, and see how much shit you talk then...

You know what the worst part of being D's nuts is: You live under a prick next door to an asshole and your best friend is a pussy. You'd be one irratating m-f'er to. Yet you don't see me resorting to threats of violence or impuning the paddling ability of my fellow person. No you don't.
Now, D's nuts does have a pathetic social life I'll grant you that, and I'm sure your shocked to hear it. So you can knock D's nuts around all you want when it comes to women and being an irratating a-hole. What you will not question is my boating! D's nuts fill a boat up good. No doubt, a person sees D's nuts going down a drop and can't help but exclaim..."I had no idea D's nuts was capable of surviving that drop." or "I thought D's nuts would be crushed for sure in that big, wet, retentive HOLE!" I'm sure thats what they say but I can't hear them 'cause D's nuts is already down stream. So take it to the bank, I boat better than you and your women tells me that's not all I do better.
Which brings me to my next point. I know a boater who obviously has time for "their stupid shit." and thats you ya inbred, no thinkin, asshat wearing, mouth-breathing, lips moving while you read, mom couldn't figure out which end to spank, "is daddy ever coming home?", anonymous, taking no responsibility for their post moron. So save your threats for your wife, kids and pets.
Think of something fun and original, doesn't have to be nice, slap a silly name on it and get back to me. Otherwise you have been served, enjoy the S-burger I made it with extra peanuts just the way you like it. Maybe it'll finally put a smile on the tight assed face of yours.

P.s. Thanks for the post Solomon you are a wise man and I think you can agree that I am not you and you are not me. Keep 'um guessing.

Interesting that D's Nuts couldn't understand the original question, yet he said that he posted to links to dreamflows and some other site, answering the question. The question that he states was so vague and hard to understand.

D's Nuts, definately needs to get out and paddle and lose some aggression. I guess D's Nuts was upset that someone else was paddling the "T" and he had to stay home and mope. That he had to be a jerk and make some wise ass comments for no reason.

With that attitude no wonder you have no friends and are constantly resorting to starting trouble on the forum. I guess this is the only social life you have. Better change your attitude, because you'll grow old alone.

Reading your first response the the post, I missed the part where you gave any form of helpful advice. Although, coming from you, I would take your advice with a grain of salt and do the opposite.

I can't believe there would be 2 ass wipes posting on the same forum.

I see the source of the misunderstanding now. You are new to the www (world wide web)! Welcome! It is a lot of fun! You can espouse opinions that might otherwise get you fired or divorced or lynched. You can pretend to be a biblical figure or Elvis or a part of the anatomy (for example, I am not really the Solomon from the old testament).

Now you might want to sit down for this part because I refuse to sugar coat it - it's for your own good. Two 'ass-wipes' on one forum is not as uncommon as you might think! I'm working on a theory, the crux of which is that there are about as many ass-wipes on the www (world wide web) as there are on the actual world. At first it's disturbing, you find yourself feeling anxious, you thought the www (world wide web) was your friend. But after a while, you buck up and give it another shot. Before you know it you're a salty veteran of the www (world wide web). So hop aboard, don't be scared, you'll be ok!

I have discussed the matter with Mr. Nuts and he feels that the quality of submissions do not meet his exceedingly low standards. Therefore he shall remain silent until, and I quote "...these pussies quit acting like I pissed in their playboats!"

So in closing, until such time as someone steps forward with something truly interesting to say, or at least slightly demented, please direct all communications to myself:
