I had the great opportunity to paddle with Max for most of one winter and spring. He was a stand up, outstanding individual who allways had a contagious smile. He was up for anything, even the worst boulder chocked shitty runs I could find. It is hard to believe its been 5 years since the last time a saw him wearing a halo from a horific paddling accident on the Kaweah. He is one of the few who could recover from such an accident and go on and learn how to fly. This says alot about his personality, full-on and never slowing down. Many of us have taken what we have learned on the river to the sky and I hope that all of us will remember its better to "wish you where flying instead of wishing you where on the ground". Best wishes to max's family and friends he will truly be missed by many.
