We are an East Tennessee couple who enjoy white-water kayaking.
We visit California annually for a week at a time and would love to play while there.
We enjoy class II/ III and one of us IV whitewater.
Were we to visit the Sacramento/San Francisco Bay Area,
Which Creeks and Rivers (example; American) would yall recommend?

Would gladly trade guided trips,
Thanks,
Patrick and Laurie

In the spring, your choices are far more abundant than in September.

We have no plans yet for our next trip, so I can just guess that we might go in November near Thanksgiving or December for Christmas, around April/May for Easter and Mother's Day, June for Father's Day, or July for the fourth. Really can't say yet. Can you give us a general idea of what's out there appropriate for us (if we're visiting family near Davis or San Francisco) at different times of the year?

South Fork of the American....Chili Bar. It is usually always going all year long. Obviously winter time can be cold but I have done it in January.

Other than that, the spring time is the best time to be in Cali. Once it gets warm and the snow begins to melt there are tons of runs to be had. In the Spring I would also recommend the Ponderosa run below Chamberlain Falls on the N. Fork of the American. Good Class III, but mostly Class II. At higher flows some amazing wave surfing.

Enjoy.
