new foot peg rails

I lost my foot pegs. So I ordered some new ones for my Wavesport X. They come with the new rails and all. I have to undo the screws to put the pegs/rails in.
My question is - do I need to worry about sealing the threads?

Probably not, but here's a possible solution. Use small pieces of electrical tape. Put the tape over the hole and then trim them around the screw head after insertion.

I used that system with my Yak rack on my camper. Not a single leak in ten years. When I took the rack apart to put it on my new truck/camper, the tape was in good condition and the camper looked almost new in that spot.

Anyway, it worked great for me. It's just a soft gasket. You could also use plumber's tape on the screws. I doubt that would mess up the plastic.
