I'm looking to take a Swiftwater Rescue course (Unit 1) this fall.

Anybody have experience with a company called Rescue 3? Do they teach a good class that's helpful to paddlers? Their course runs on a couple different rivers near me (SF American, Feather, Stanislaus) and I am wondering if one of these locations is better than the others.

If you know of other organizations that offer a good swiftwater class, I'd like to hear about them too.
Thanks!

I took a class a couple of years ago through Current Adventures and our instructor was Eric Magnussen. He's pretty much THE guy for SR around here. It was an excellent class. He knows his stuff and the class environment was very supportive and fun. Just make sure that you have very warm clothing. I took it in the Sprint and froze my ass off.

You may check a new company in Southern Oregon for the courses that they offer. I know they're providing some progressive elements in the way of swiftwater courses. http://www.therescuer.org

Eric Peterson from Oregon Rescue Technologies in Southern Oregon offers a great class. He is extremely knowledgeble and teaches many other high end rescue clinics. I took the Whitewater Rescue course through him and highly recommend it. Good luck.

Me and 2 friends took a class through Current Adventures with Eric Magnessun a couple months back. I highly recommend this course! In my class there were even a couple people who had already taken the same course a few years earlier and want a refresher course. It says a lot that they chose to go to the same class twice. The class was over 2 days with each day having a "lecture/seminar" session and then hands-on river session. I learned a lot from this class but swift water rescue...how to avoid it, important knots to know, and of course a sorts of rescue techniques.
