southern california boater in need of friends

I'm new to southern california. I grew up padleing around DC and later in and around Georgia. I prefur playboating, but don't mind river running, and would describe myself as an upper intermediate. The problem is I don't know if or where rivers are in Southern California. I could use either some pointers or someone in need of a boating buddy...

any way ican tag alongon some trip. i paddled the east coast also. like to play boat and river run. in san diego. really need to see some water though. any help please.
