River Rescue Training
Swift Water Rescue classes provide hands on training for quick and decisive actions for when things go wrong on a river. Prevention is the first rule of rescue! Learning how to recognize hazards and having the ability to mitigate a common river hazard early is critical to Safe River running. Knowing what to do and being practiced at basic rescue skills helps prevent accidents.
Our courses are tought by by Rescue 3 and American Canoe Association SWR certified instructors. Courses are customized to fit the specific needs of river runners.
Training in accident prevention, swimming, wading, throw bag use, rope handling skills, knots, anchors, Z-drags, communications, leadership and team work is what this course is all about.
Participants receive American Canoe Association SWR course completion card
A full Course Outline and reference materials are provided, along with classroom and practical situation feedback and evaluations.
If you have ever felt the need for a course in swift water rescue, now is the time. Don't put off the inevitable. If you use rivers for recreation or professional endeavors, the odds are you'll come face to face with a situation requiring quick and decisive actions. Statistics prove that successful rescues are the product of trained and practiced individuals capable of reacting quickly when things go wrong.
Our philosophy is based on simple proven techniques with an emphasis on what can be done quickly with minimal equipment and efficient use of available resources. We strongly believe and teach that if every river runner is experienced and practiced in basic rescue techniques, we are all better off when the inevitable accident occurs.
2007 Scheduled Courses, Dates and Rates:
Spring Course 4/28 & 4/29/07 $130 p/p
Summer Course 6/2 & 6/3/07 $130 p/p
Course minimum is six persons, maximum is twelve persons. Instructor to Student ratio is 1:6
Private Group Rates: You pick the dates:
Basic 2-day Course $140 per person
Course minimum is six and the maximum is eight. Available April through August by advance reservations.
